Left Coast Live is nothing less than ecstatic to secure Yo La Tengo to headline the main stage on Saturday, June 26th. One of the most enduring and endearing bands of the indie scene for the last twenty years, Yo La Tengo are impossible to pin down, yet have a very distinct sound. They can pull off epic psych jams, soulfully crooned pop nuggets, garage type stompers or hushed electronic pieces and usually have all of these elements and more within the same album. Ira, Georgia and James are masters of variety and certainly have the track record to show it.
Whether they are backing Ray Davies or releasing an EP of Sun Ra covers, and even composing several soundtracks including “Adventureland” and an all instrumental album for a French underwater documentarian, Yo La Tengo makes all their material seem effortless, yet inspired and always sonically amazing. Their last record and eighth full-length release for Matador Records “Popular Songs” was of course an exercise in the aforementioned scattered brilliance and proves they haven’t lost a creative step.
You never know what you’re going to get from Yo La Tengo, you just know it’s going to be interesting. It is a real coup for Left Coast Live to host this genre defying troop and their performance on June 26th is not to be missed.

When rock and roll reared its raunchy head in the fifties, the majority of folks believed the music was just a fad. Yet generation after generation, kids are strapping on guitars, picking up drumsticks, screaming into microphones, and forming bands. Hence, the School of Rock was born. KFOX showcases these rock students who are proving that the beat goes on and on and on.
With more than a decade of successful experience teaching music, School of Rock is the national leader in music education for kids from second grade through high school. Students learn from professional musicians in an interactive environment combining weekly private lessons and structured group rehearsals with the ultimate goal of performing live in front of real crowds. Areas of instruction include guitar, drums, keyboards, bass guitar and vocals and we accept students of all abilities – from kids just starting out to advanced players.
Check out these amazing kids on Saturday, June 26th, from 5:30 – 7:30pm on the mini-main stage in the parking lot across from Agenda Lounge!

Left Coast Live is psyched to have the MAP (Mobile Arts Platform) stage at this year’s festival. The MAP stage is comprised of a large (20′x25′) inflatable video screen which will feature multi-media video projections by Bay Area video artist Jonathan Grover, with LCL bands playing in front of this big screen.
Jonathan creates video projections that sample from live video feeds capturing footage of the performers (in this case the bands on the stage), and mixes these images in with video textures and abstract images he’s developed. The program he uses is interactive and influenced by the live music itself (a live feed from the PA monitor is plugged into his laptop) which helps determine the images, patterns and color pallets that are projected. }} More
