When Campbell band Strata parted ways a few years back, singer Eric Victorino formed The Limousines while guitarist Ryan Hernandez and drummer Adrian Robison ventured off to form Beta State with friend and bassist Justin Kastner. After a year of auditioning vocalists, they finally found the very talented Matt McDonald, and with their line-up complete, the band wrote and recorded their debut album “Stars.”
Known for their ambient rock sounds set by guitarist Hernandez’s lush delays and reverb, it’s obvious Beta State is highly influenced by Los Gatos art-rock kings Dredg. Filled with heartfelt vocals and a positive message of hope, love, and self discovery, this band resonates in the hearts of many and has made quite an impact on the Bay Area music scene.
Beta State worked with local production company Element 151 on two music videos this year for their singles “I Will Remember You” and “Stars,” which both premiered on Live 105′s website to an overwhelming online response. This lead to the band playing the local band stage at Live 105′s BFD in May 2011. They’ve also charted on CMJ as the #12 most added album for all of college radio in December 2010. Currently working on a new album with producer Erik Ron (Panic at the Disco, D.R.U.G.S., The Academy Is…, Saosin), the band hopes to release an album later this year.
