This hip-hop, reggae and hardcore influenced band formed nearly 15 years ago right here in San Jose. Early on, Insolence’s popularity grew rapidly. Their fan base spread like wildfire well beyond the Bay Area music scene. From there, Insolence toured nationally with some of the big dogs in music including Rancid, Incubus, Sevendust, Janes Addiction, and Cypress Hill.
After a circuit through Europe in ‘98 and ‘99, they signed to Madonna’s Maverick Records and released their first major-label album, Revolution. In support of their album, Insolence toured alongside music heavyweights including Kottonmouth Kings, Hoobastank, Black Sheep, Ill Nino, Corporate Avenger, Soulfly, and Insane Clown Posse.
Insolence has achieved substantial success. Their single, “Poison Well,” was regularly played on MTV shows like the Real World and Road Rules. Other tracks from the same album were featured on Adam Sandler’s Little Nikki soundtrack. Their music made it onto Sean Palmer’s Pro Snowboarder game for PlayStation 2. The lucky guys even have a cameo in Sylvester Stalone’s movie, Driven.
Continuing to work on new projects, we’re happy Insolence has made the time to play this year’s Left Coast Live.
Insolence is: Mark Herman (vocals), Mecha 1 (spits, percussion and melodica), Michael Rowan (guitar), Clint Westwood (bass guitar), Kevin “The Guch” (drums and ‘The Boom’), and Ichy (turntables and samples).
See Insolence at Milano Restaurant on Friday, June 25th at 9:30 pm.
