Left Coast Live Presents – Deke Dickerson

On Thursday, March 4, Left Coast Live presents internationally renown Roots Americana, Rockabilly and Western Swing artist Deke Dickerson at downtown San Jose’s Historic Hotel De Anza.

This event will also include performances by the Chicago based Joel Paterson and the Modern Sounds and San Francisco’s Lady A and Her Heel Draggers. Befitting the vintage inspired sounds of these three acts, these performances will occur in the 1930’s Deco Elegance of the Hotel De Anza’s Hedley Club, which features the fine Italian cuisine of La Pastaia and a creative and a seasonal menu of cocktails.  So join us for this opportunity to dress to the 9’s, dance into evening and enjoy some of the best hard swingin’ music this side of the Memphis!

Deke Dickerson is one of America’s musical treasures. As an entertainer and musician, he has toured the world and established himself as one of the foremost purveyors of roots music, headlining festivals from Las Vegas to Finland.  Performing as a solo artist since 1997, Deke has recorded three albums on High-Tone Records.   In recent years Deke has also toured nationally as a lead singer for the legendary instrumental band Los Straitjackets and with the great Western guitar-and-steel-guitar duo Biller & Wakefield.  In addition to being an acclaimed touring roots musician, Deke is well known for his regular column in Guitar Player magazine, has partnered with Hallmark Guitars to produce the Deke Dickerson model guitar, and has recorded songs that have been featured in a variety of movies, TV shows, and radio programs. Deke’s latest project is his new studio album, King of the Whole Wide World.  Like his previous albums it’s a musical journey through the twisted roots of Americana, but this time the roots go deeper than ever before.

Joel Paterson and the Modern Sounds – The Modern Sounds is a Chicago based trio featuring Joel Paterson on guitar and vocals.  This big little band is dedicated to performing traditional American music; specializing in rockabilly, hot jazz, western swing, classic blues and everything in between. The Modern Sounds are on the cutting edge of the Atomic Age—bringing you the best of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s.

Lady A & Her Heel Draggers are a San Francisco based Western Swing band, formed by members of several prominent area roots Americana groups, including the Mad Cow String Band, and the Real Sippin’ Whiskeys. The Heel Draggers focus on the sounds of the classic era of Western Swing, when country music still swung hard and had more than three chords.  Featuring the powerful vocals of the lovely Lady A, this high-energy music keeps fans dancing and drinking.
